WIFI LTE-U Coexistence: a Case Study

Abstract

In the modern world computer networks are everywhere. A world without computer networks and the flow of information between the systems is unimaginable. Everyone connects annd exchanges information. Every device is equipped with a network interface card (NIC). If we dig into the history of computer networks, we see the movement from wire to air transmission. The salient technologies that facilitate transmission over the air are WIFI and LTE. Because of the surge in mobile data demand, operators deploy their LTE nodes in the unlicensed band also. This article comments about the problems that arise in the co-channel deployment of WiFi and LTE nodes, and LTE-U, and LAA protocols put forward by 3GPP to overcome these problems. Under Traffic and Network Balancing, efficient ways of carrier allocation, are presented.
